Edge 1040 Solar hangs Basecamp on Macbook Air M4

Hello all,
Version 4.8.13 (4.8.13) on MacOS 15.7.3 on macbook air m4

I connect the Edge 1040 Solar (30.18), it is detected by basecamp, I let it load the maps from internal memory but I can't send POIs to it. It hangs and says it couldn't send.
Using usb c usb c cable.
I recall doing it on my older Mac Mini 2014 on same MacOS.
I did it in windows

And my etrex 30 can do it in this same Macbook air M4.

Can anyone provide a solution? Today I don't have more the old mac nor a windows machine with me.

I clicked the box to "not show this window again" in the route creation dialog window. How can I get it back again?

Basecamp deletes lists when new data is imported

I use Basecamp for Mac. Every time I import a new file (doesn't matter gpx, kml, kmz), the last one disappears. I have not had this problem in the past (but lots of other ones!). I am importing into a new list each time. I even tried a new list in a new folder. Same results. Help!

BaseCamp for Mac had ceased detecting my Drive 53 device. Express detected the device, but I made sure no vestige of Express was running simultaneous to BaseCamp. Cable and connections were fine. MacOS security settings for Basecamp were correct. I went through every step in the various Garmin support pages on this issue, all to no avail. So...

...Finally I went old school.* I backed up BaseCamp, deleted the BaseCamp app from the Mac, downloaded BaseCamp from Garmin, reinstalled it and restarted MacOS (that last step makes the difference!). Now BaseCamp detects my GPS device.

BaseCamp “User Data File Is Corrupted” When Importing .GPX Backup

Hi all,

I’m running a Garmin Montana 700i and I’m a moderate/advanced user.

Workflow:
• Use the Explore app for reviewing/sharing routes.
• Use BaseCamp to organize waypoints and tracks after ATV/snowmobile trips.
• Maintain a clean BaseCamp Collection with periodic .gpx backups.

There are no issues when:
• Editing data directly on the GPS in BaseCamp
• Transferring items to/from the device

The problem only occurs when I import or save data from one of my .gpx backup files or try to copy items from my GPS to my collection into BaseCamp.

When I do, BaseCamp crashes and on restart I get this error:

“An error occurred loading your data.
Your user data file is corrupted. BaseCamp is loading a backup, but some data may be lost.”

After that:

• BaseCamp restores a prior backup
• My Collection is wiped or reverted
• The imported data is gone

It seems isolated specifically to writing/importing the .gpx file into the BaseCamp database — the device itself functions normally.

I've tried uninstalling Basecamp, resetting my GPS, deleting database files, etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. I’d like to maintain a stable master collection without repeated corruption.

Connection Problem and Missing tracks

When I connect my overland to the Mac and then try to synch me recorded tracks it doesn't work. either I get a beach ball and the basecamp app will crash or it doesn't show my overlader. Nevertheless in Garmin Express it shows as connected.

I then tried to synch the recored track via the eplore App no the overlander. It didn't allow my to sync. So I did a relogin. Now synch is working.

But I lost all my local recorded tracks or at least I can't see them in the explore App. When I look at the storage usage I assume they are still on the device.

How can I get back my tracks and then synch them to my Mac? Thank a lot for you help

Basecamp on a MacOS Virtual Machine

In the Fall of 2027, Basecamp will stop working on MacOS 28 ARM when Rosetta 2 is discontinued. I was able to get Basecamp 4.8.13 to work on a MacOS Monterrey VM (12.7.6) in Parallels Desktop 26 using 4 vCPU and 16 GB. Basecamp turns off 3D maps and it's a little slow but it is fully functional. I also tried it with a MacOS 15 and 26 VM but Basecamp maps redraws were choppy and the app would not work after the first run. I did not test it with a MacOS 13 or 14 VM. I hope this is helpful for some Mac users.

Hello, Every time I connect my Garmin DriveSmart 76 MT-S with the iMac (Apple M1, Tahoe 26.1) Garmin BaseCamp crashes. If the DriveSmart is already is connect BaseCamp doesn’t start up at all. Any one knows what’s going on here?

eTrex Touch 35 internal memory

when i plug my etrex touch 35 in and view it in basecamp it is showing as 600mb free of 7.7GB

i only have one map image on there of 51mb. it means i can't transfer any new maps

i looked for hidden files but there is nothing large

Hello. I have a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Saphire. I switched from Windows to iOS. Now, on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, after pairing the watch with my phone, the phone displays that the watch is connected to the phone via Bluetooth. Data is transferred smoothly, along with activity data. However, I'm having a problem with notifications on the watch. Incoming calls appear on the watch as incoming, but other notifications, such as emails, text messages, text messages from WhatsApp or other apps, don't. I've tried everything: turning them on/off, uninstalling/installing them, and updating them. Please help.

Routes are off after map update

Syncing Etrex 22x with another software program than basecamp?

As others have asked/stated - basecamp has issues especially with the eTrex 22x. And apparently isn't compatible with the Garmin explore. Are there any other options for seeing my contents on device without using basecamp and when I transfer files to the GPS for a trip, that I can see exactly the trip on the device? (i.e ensure my planned trip got transferred correctly to the GPS). I had this issue with the last eTrex 22x that was replaced by Garmin because of hardware issues. Bottom line, I transferred my planned hiking trip, all looked good. Got out on the trail and no maps were available. Syncing basecamp with device and trying to map something is awful and very slow and yes I gave it time to index. Thanks.

Garmin Basecamp does not run on Apple Mac mini M1, while on macbook Air M4 it runs well

Intall of Garmin Basecamp runs normal on Mac Mini M1. When I start Basecamp, it looks ok, but screen disappears immediately and only takes stays visible. Not able to close Basecamp w\o forcing it to close. Have tried a downloaded version from App Store and directly from Garmin (later version). Both do not work. However they work fine on my MacBook Air M4. Running latest version of Tahou on Mac (26.0.1). Issue was already present in previous SW release.

I'm facing issues when trying to setup my dev environment

I'm on macbook pro, arm based, using vsc.

I installed connectIq, added the monkey C plugin to vsc

I created a der file and trying to build a simple hello world app using

I join my monkey.jungle and manifest.xml

and... no way for me building my app

Transfer group of varied waypoints to device, but all display same street address

I created a list of 57 garage and mechanic waypoints for an upcoming trip, each with distinct address and phone information. I transferred them as a folder to my device (Drive 53), but they all display the same address from just one of those waypoints. I deleted, then highlighted the group inside the folder, then transferred. Same result with that address. Finally, I selected one of the waypoints that does not have the repeated address and transferred, but it displays that same address as before.

How do I transfer waypoints along with the specific address and phone number information assigned to each?

Hi, I’ve just bought a brand new forerunner 570 and I am facing an issue while doing a workout training. In my previous 745 I could see the avg pace per step/lap in the data field, while now I can only see the instant pace. I contacted garmin and they said this can not be changed… anyone knows a workaround or how to fix this? This is the screen I am using the most and it is not what I was expecting…

[Mac][BaseCamp] Forerunner 965 detected by Garmin Express but not by BaseCamp — no “Removable Volumes” prompt (macOS [15.6.1], BaseCamp [4.8.11], Express [7.26.1.0])

Environment

Watch: Garmin Forerunner 965
Mac: Mac mini → USB-C to VIA-based USB hub → original Garmin cable
OS: macOS 15.6.1
Apps: Garmin Express (works), BaseCamp (fails)

Problem
Garmin Express sees the watch and syncs fine, but BaseCamp shows “error communicating with your device.” macOS never shows the “BaseCamp would like to access files on a removable volume” dialog, so there’s no Files & Folders → Removable Volumes toggle for BaseCamp. Garmin’s docs say BaseCamp needs that permission on newer macOS.

What I tried

Quit Express/Photos/OpenMTP, disabled Express auto-launch, started BaseCamp first, then plugged the watch in — still no permission prompt.
Reset TCC permissions:
- tccutil reset SystemPolicyRemovableVolumes com.garmin.BaseCamp
- tccutil reset All com.garmin.BaseCamp
Gave BaseCamp Full Disk Access manually
Switched the watch between MTP and Garmin USB modes (manual says both supported).

What I see (logs & USB info)

Mac sees the device as Garmin Composite Device (VID 0x091E), so the cable/port is data-capable (USB2 480 Mb/s).
Unified logs show:
- Intermittent USB hub resets / hardware connection lost on the VIA hub.
- TCC activity for SystemPolicyRemovableVolumes when BaseCamp tries to access the device, but no user prompt appears.
- Occasional single-client contention (MTP already opened) if Express is running.

How did you force the Removable Volumes prompt for BaseCamp?
Any known BaseCamp compatibility issues on 15.6.1?

I'm over Base Camp...
It takes 4 hours in what I can do in 10 minutes using Maps. I'm a SaSS product designer, and Base Camp is like using an Excel spreadsheet. Has anyone found something that works like a modern designed software? Open to anything else out there.
