VIRB Edit Kept Failing to export on MacBook

Export of video failed.

Unknown error occurred during video exporting.

This above message kept showing up when I export a video. The progress of exporting a video never move forward. and the message showed up after about 1 minute starting export.

I have tried uninstall the app and reinstall it. The problem is still there. On Mac, it seems you can not completely remove all the file of the app. When reinstall the app. it automatically use the folders they used before.

I've been through all the forum questions that have been asked over the last 9 years and I still can't make head nor tail of this.

I've updated the Mac operating system.

I've tried turning the volume down to 0.

Graphics card is fine - it's a 3 year old MacBook Pro.

Plenty of RAM.

Don't have any anti-virus software.

The videos are from a brand new GoPro Hero12 Creator.

All the data files are running perfectly.

I've tried exporting from the Gallery and the Editing suite.

I get no warning about file size limit but I've tried 4k, I've tried 1080p, I've tried 720p.

And, yes, I have the latest version of VIRB edit.

Please, please, please help me to solve this problem. I've been wanting to upload these videos for a week and I am way behind. I've spent hours on these videos and would really appreciate being able to be helped to figure out why I can't do the simplest of actions 😆

App size too big om Macbook Pro

Does anybody else have the problem when opening Virb that the app is too big for the screen so that you can't get to the buttons at the bottom? To solve this I have to change the screen size to "more space" from the default setting. Annoying

Virb exports 60 fps video with actual fps 59.83. Youtube plays video as 30 fps

I record with my gopro, mode is 2k 60 fps, when I edit footage in virb edit and export with setting 60 fps, in vlc I can check details and see that actual fps is 59.835..., and when I upload video to youtube, it does not display 60fps option. It plays video as 30 fps. I believe as a workaround, I can edit virb exported video to 60 fps in another app, but is there a better way and is this really causing youtube issue?

Merge multiple clips if they are one continuous video

I would like to make a feature request if it does not exist yet. I use virb edit to apply garmin telemetry to gopro footage. My gopro splits long video into multiple files and I end up with multiple clips, I have to add gmetrix, sync footage, apply visuals onto multiple clips, although those clips is one continuous video. Is there a way to merge multiple clips into one or if not I would propose this feature. Thanks in advance!

Workflow for 360 videos with GPS data gauges on M1 Macbook Pro

So here is my workflow for creating 360 videos with GPS Gauges on M1 Macbook Pro using GoPro Max, GoPro Player,Telemetry Extractor and Virb Edit - all software are free to use:

Record normal 360 video using GoPro Max in either 5.6K or 4K (but keep in mind that 5.6 will not be used later on).
1. File should be "any".360
Go to your Macbook and read the file from the memory card using GoPro Player. Export video with GoPro Player using H264 codec in 4K (maybe 5.6 also works but have not tested it yet) - If you try to use HVEC codec, VirbEdit will not be able to extract the final file
1. File should be "any".mp4
Go to https://goprotelemetryextractor.com/free/# and extract GPS data from "any".360 using the Virbedit option (not the GPX).
1. File should be "any".gpx
Import "any".mp4 (from step 2) in Virb Edit
Go to G-metrix option and import GPS data from "any".gpx file (from step 3)
Edit normally adding the gauges you want
Extract final file which will be stored in a Folder by default using the name if the file you will select

Note: When editing in Garmin Virb Edit use the 720 analysis to play

Virbedit won't associate .fit file to 360 video file bigger than a certain size?

SO I have rendered 32-36min 360 videos at 5.6k in gopro quik - but once i concat the 8 min gopro files together and import the 32-36 minute videos into virbedit, the .fit will will not "associate" to the video file. The g-metrix tab just says "there is no g-metrix for this clip"

I have done it to a 24 minute video - is there a certain file size limit in virbedit? the files are 50-60GB

Does the 30 second power gauge work for anyone

Hi I added the 30 second power gauge to videos I am making, and despite the real time power being absolutely perfect, the 30 second power appears to be around 30 seconds AHEAD of where the power is. So if I am coasting before doing a 30 second sprint, the real time power gauge shows 0, while the 30 second power increases like crazy while I am not even pedaling. Anyone else seeing this? Yes i know the software is dead

Garmin VIRB Edit Won't Work With GoPro

I've been really excited about using Garmin VIRB Edit for cycling data overlays on my races....

After I downloaded the software to my 2019 MacBook Pro and then uploaded my GoPro Hero 5 Black footage to VIRB Edit, it kept asking me to optimize the videos. The videos would not optimize and if I tried to cancel, the software would timeout. So next time I tried skipping the optimization step but then the video won't play at all, which means I can't overlay any of the G-Metrix.

So I deleted the software from my computer and downloaded the software again. Same exact issues.

This morning I called Garmin Support about the issue and here was my response. "We do not offer any support for third party video files." Great, thanks. So helpful. It's an mp4 file, the same file type from a VIRB but she said there's other unique things about the file format it reads which is why the GoPro files won't work.

Every single YouTube tutorial about using Garmin VIRB Edit for cycling data overlays is with a GoPro. Granted, they're several years old so maybe Garmin changed something in their software recently to make it impossible for cameras other than VIRB to function properly in their editing software.

Super frustrating. Has anyone else recently downloaded VIRB Edit and got it to work properly with GoPro files?

Unable to connect my VIRB Ultra 30 to my new MacBook Pro M1+

I have a problem with my VIRB Ultra 30 camera that I have tried to fix for hours today.

I recently switched my old MacBook Air with standard large USB ports with a brand new MacBook Pro M1+ with Monterey, and only USB-C ports.

So I bought a USB-C to USB mini cable off Amazon (this one), and expected my Mac to communicate with the VIRB. But it only charges. The cable should be fine, because I am able to connect an old eTrex VISTA to my new Mac with no problem. With the VIRB Ultra 30, it doesn't show up in Finder and doesn't appear in Garmin Express. So I have formatted the SD card thinking that's the problem. But no solution. So I tried to connect the VIRB with the same cable to a DELL Windows 10 PRO laptop and THAT worked. So definitely the cable is ok. I downloaded Virb Edit on the PC and that worked with my Ultra too. So what's going on with MacBook Pro M1+ and Monterey and VIRB Ultra cameras ????

I used the app November 28, when I tried to use on December 5 it just crashes when I launch. I have removed and installed again but the issue remains. Below is the log.

Not able to browse add new gauges

I am trying to find new gauges to use, when I click on the Plus icon to "Get More..." it brings me to a Gauge Browser page and says either

"Gauge browser requires an internet connection. Please check your connection and try again." or "No Gauges Found."

My internet connection is just fine..

I am using the latest Virb edit software 5.4.3

Any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated

Ok After struggled for a while finally I figured out how to use Garmin VIRB Edit (MacOS, 5.4.3) to edit videos from gopro7 black. So I write it here just in case others face the same problems and can't find solutions.

1, After you import your video, optimize it. Or you will see error like "unknow error happened when playing" or something like this. If you see this error after optimize it, try to reinstall VIRB Edit. I don't know why but it works after I tried.

2, Change your Gopro 7 black (havn't try other devices) videos to HEVC 264, but not HEVC. Or you may see error when you import the video.

Hi, I need to download the Garmin Virb 5.1.3 from Mac, but I can't find it anywhere.
And subsequent updates make a section that I need for a drone not work. Do you know where I can download it from?

I was excied to buy a Gopro and wanted to create some nice clips. But unfortunately to find I coundnot use Garmin Virb Edit on my laptop (Macos Pro 2015, OS 10.15.7 Catalina).

I tried so many time but always got message: there was an error playing this video. I found this happened to many people in the past few years.

The latest version was updated more than 2 years ago (Dec 2018).

Does Garmin give up Virb Edit?

If not, can you please update it?

Can you change the calculation for the data in Virb?

So, I have seen that you can change the metrics from imperial to metric. However, my goal was to change i.e. the pace to not show minutes per kilometer but rather minutes to 500m because that is how we measure it in rowing and it would be convenient. The Garmin Connect app measures it this way, as there is a rowing activity

I guess the Software is set out for cyclists but maybe someone has an idea?

On Virb Edit, any video I export automatically defaults to the alert "Export of video failed".

At first, I thought it was a 4K/60 FPS issue that had the file at 29gb. I even lowered it to 480p/30 FPS which brought the size down to 98.50 MB, and still experienced the same error.

Seems to me Virb Edit isn't compatible for those using M1 based Mac's.

Laying telemetry overlays on multiple clips-VERB

I'm going to use the example from a lot of the airline pilots that I see on YouTube. If a pilot has multiple cameras, sometimes four or five, and they want to play telemetry over the video consistently throughout the video the only time the telemetry shows up is when a clip from a selected camera is shown. When I want to have is the telemetry show through all the clips or in this case different camera angles. Since the telemetry is consistent regardless of what camera angle you edit the video to it would be nice to have the telemetry information span the entire length of video. All you have to be concerned with his timing but that is no big deal. I hope this makes sense.

Basically what I am asking is there way to export just the telemetry data as a video? This way you could use it as its own layer in any NLE program.
