Does Homeport work with GPSMAP 86sc?

I just bought the GPSMAP 86sc. It comes pre-loaded with Bluechart maps. I want to plan routes and sync them to the 86sc. Is this done with Explorer? Homeport? Something else? I have installed Explorer, but it does not have Bluechart maps. Homeport appears to work with Marine plotters.

I belong to a boat club which is why the 86sc was a good choice for me. All help is appreciated.

This has been more than frustrating, as the attitude of Garmin support has been, so what. There is no 64 bit OS Mac version coming, buy windows.

Well I am not going to buy another Garmin product. And when I am asked about Garmin I will tell them to use caution and look at competitors before buying

Garmin has lost me as a customer, the attitude I received today from support is unacceptable. I work for a electronics manufacturer and if anyone on our support team spoke to a customer in the way I experienced, they would be fired.

Well I purchased the G3 Map package update, Tried to run HomePort.... Nope Called support and was told by a windows attitude user that Garmin was not going to port to 64 bit for Mac

Basically it was go away. I have had Garmin products for 20 years. Current boat GPSplotter, radar, VHF 210 (which can not be loaded into Garmin Express, 3rd party device)

Garmin support is terrible, I hope they update Homeport, not holding my breath.

The route detail is very confusing.

The total distance value is not the one in the line of the route, but rather that of the next line.

Is there a way to change this display?

the connect app shows sometimes 2 different main screens! one shows my HB-amplitude and the second shows a open circuit from blue to red. How can I adjust to my favourite?

My steps aren’t being recorded in my app. I have restarted my watch and phone and reconnected the Bluetooth

Leg speed is given as a single integer, e.g. 6 knots. Is it possible to change this to get more accurate speed, e.g. 6.35 knots.

importing images into Homeport

I am trying to put some images into Homeport. The images were in HTML format but I converted them into JPG format so Homeport would support them. From the format converter, I can drag and drop these images into Homeport and they do show in the listings column. However on the actual map I can not open these images and a thick white horizontal line appears. Would some one please help me. Thank you, Bob

Relinking My Collection on new computer without backup/restore

Hi, I've recently swapped to a new computer, and with all the things that needed updating, I forgot to do the backup from within my HomePort, so that I could restore My Collection on my new laptop. I've since wiped the old computer, but I do have old Time Machine backups of it. Is there a way for me to restore My Collection from those old backups? I've done a search for alldata.gdb, but not sure if that's a PC name for the file?

Grateful for any thoughts!

Can't see Hi-Res Imagery on Homeport

I have purchased and unlocked the YUS300P chart, but I am unable to see the aerial imaging inside Homeport. There is a general yellow colored map will little detail (please see attachment).

export raw sonar data

Hi everyone!

On HomePort, I was able to import my .RSD files from my SD card and I can watch the sonar recordings, but when I try to export data from the sonar recordings, I only get latitude and longitude, and nothing about depth. Has anyone been successful at extracting raw sonar data?

Tracks no longer contain date and time data for each index point

I'm not sure whether or not this happened when I upgraded to ver 2.3.0, but I am very fearful that years of useful data could possibly be lost forever through no fault of my own:

I no longer see any speed, date, or time information for points along any of my tracks. I had noticed in the past that some imported tracks lacked this info, but all of those tracks imported over the past few years from my 62st and 64st handhelds would include this information. Now, the only columns in the Get Info window for ALL tracks in HomePort are: Index, Leg Distance, Leg Course, and Position.

I had often used track date and time information to plan future outings and resolve questions about adventures we had been on by looking back at the speed achieved on previous outings. I could also match the date and time stamp on trip photos and appropriately caption them by placing them along the track.

Why, oh why, has this data disappeared? Can I get it back?

Choosing the References tab in a waypoint's Info window allows one to see all of the lists in which that waypoint resides. Is there also a simple method to find out which lists contain a particular track?

some unrelated background: I have been using BaseCamp for 7 years and have been forced to use HomePort now that BaseCamp will not read my LakeVu chip data. It's comforting that the two apps are so similar; it's disappointing that none of BaseCamp's shortcomings have been overcome - or at least improved - in HomePort. How there needed to be two separate software development teams in the first place is beyond me. I have now abandoned BaseCamp and moved all of my data to HomePort... land trails and water outings, all.

Users who wish to sync their data to a third party Cloud storage service may use the Garmin BaseCamp application by modifying the Database Options in BaseCamp to point it to a folder under the Cloud storage service root.

I lost my data and would like to restore it from timemaschine.
bevor it, I have to know wehre homeport store the tracks.
im unsers/ ..myname../ library etc.etc. I can't find any data.

Viewing one route

How can I view ONE route, and not all of them. When I turn on MyCollections it shows all my routes, and when I turn it off by selecting Blue Chart, they all disappear.

Now, can I use this to create and download a route to my chart plotter? If so, how?

Homeport vs. BlueCharts vs. BlueChart and BlueChart G2?

Not sure if this is the right place, but trying to figure out options for marine use.

First the Homepost. As I understand it, it is basically a copy of chart plotter software to be used on a PC, but you have to plug in a USB drive with the charts on them. I find this horribly inconvenient and just won't use it, if this is the case. However, can one "load" the charts so they don't need the plug it? And can it be used to do route planning and transferred to a Garmin plotter?

Second, what is the difference between BlueChart and BlueChart G2?

I have BlueChart with Active Captain on it for both the IPad and Iphone, and overall I find it very good software, but not easy to use and no good user manual. For example, I can't for the life of me figure out how to save a route and NOT see it on the chart... can't "close" it.

Also, anyone using both BlueCharts and Navionics can compare the two?

Goal is to have some portable charting that, preferably I can download to my chart plotter on the boat, and use as a back up for trips and planning when not on the boat.

Importing Echomap sonar data into Basecamp or Homeport

I recorded sonar data using my Echomap CHIRP 44DV. I could see the contours appear on the screen of the fishfinder and was delighted with the results. When I brought the SD card to my computer, I found several files with names that are obviously coordinate based. When I clicked on one of them, I got the following message:

"/Volumes/NO NAME/Garmin/Quickdraw/Contours/N571998208W1097596928/N571998208W1097596928.qdc" could not be imported.

In Basecamp, I saw a reference to what must have been the data listed as ADM... Clicking on this, nothing happened.

In an internet search, nothing useful came up on "Quickdraw". In the Garmin forum, nothing.

I downloaded Homeport. While in Homeport, I again clicked the "/Volume/..." file. The Basecamp application immediately opened and gave the same error message.

How do I get the beautiful map I saw on my Fishfinder into a file on my computer?

73dv versus HomePort

My new 73dv has a micro SD card slot of course, but no USB connection. Can I create routes, waypoints, etc. in HomePort and export them to the 73dv via a micro SD card? I know I can save them elsewhere on the computer, but what file format do I use?

Can I export things I create in HomePort to a 73dv via a micro SD card?
